The Society for Vascular Nursing’s 38th Annual Conference is going virtual, from 6  to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 15. In addition to a series of live presentations, SVN also will offer a number of accompanying on-demand sessions.

The meeting kicks off with the keynote address, “Change your thoughts, change your health.” Leah Weisberg, RN, is president of the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association and has an integrative healthcare center in Toronto. Weisberg, who suffered burnout from hospital work early in her career, will discuss the cognitive, emotional and physiological strategies that help decrease the stress response and prevent its over-activation. This will be presented in the context of self-care and the benefits of staying well in order to care effectively for patients.

Besides the keynote session, live presentations include the debate “Exercise therapy for claudication is torture everyone should get” and “Endovascular revascularization vs. endovascular therapy for claudication is the path to amputation,” by Jonathan Cardella, MD, and Edward Gifford, MD.

Elsewhere, topic include “Management of direct acting oral anticoagulants,” by Erica Maceira, PharmD; “Aortic dissections from type A to B,” by Jennifer Schroeder, AGPCNP-BD; “Vascular access and NP perspective,” by Alison Thomas, RN (EC); and “DOACs in PAD: A new horizon,” by Sonia Anand, MD.

The full program, including on-demand topics, and more information are available at vsweb.org/SVNConference20.
