The 2021 Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM) Roy Greenberg Distinguished Lecture saw delegates hear about the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to transform vascular surgery.
Elsie Gyang Ross, MD, assistant professor of surgery at Stanford University, told attendees during her Aug. 19 talk: “We have the ability to shape how this technology can be used to transform vascular care, whether that be developing systems to decrease late referrals, to better manage vascular population health, or improving our operative abilities.
“Ultimately, the quest for better vascular care will always include integration of our hard-won intelligence, married with excellent use cases from which we can build AI to improve care, decrease inefficiencies and waste.”
