Successful 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting

The June 6-8, 2012 Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Vascular Annual Meeting held at National Harbor, MD, recorded excellent attendance. In all, 2,839 members, non-member physicians, residents/students, allied health professionals, and scholarship recipients attended the three-day meeting.

One hundred ninety-one abstracts provided the latest breakthroughs in vascular health. The top three categories for abstracts were: vascular laboratory and imaging (58 percent of abstracts presented), cerebrovascular including great vessels (53 percent), and venous disease (3 percent).

The 2012 Meeting included free postgraduate courses for SVS members, postgraduate simulation training, and a post-conference RPVI review course.

For the first time, Meeting attendees downloaded a free mobile app for abstract viewing and meeting details. Other “firsts” for the 2012 Meeting included: free postgraduate courses for SVS members; postgraduate simulation training; a RFP process for postgraduate course modules, breakfast sessions, and breakout sessions; a new self-assessment component to the CME credits, and a post conference RPVI review course.

The 2013 Vascular Annual Meeting is scheduled to be held May 30-June 1 in San Francisco, California. Information will appear on the SVS website.
