SVS solicits comments on clinical practice guidelines covering carotid disease

The SVS seeks comments for an update to clinical practice guidelines on extracranial cerebrovascular disease

The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) is seeking comments by Feb. 24 on proposed clinical practice guidelines for the management of extracranial cerebrovascular disease—which would update those published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery (JVS) in 2011.

The SVS Document Oversight Committee (DOC) appointed a working group of experts to review and evaluate the literature on extracranial cerebrovascular disease in order to extract the most salient, evidence-based recommendations on managing patients with this disease.

“The workgroup identified 11 recommendations that represent the most significant elements surrounding the management of patients with the disease,” according to the SVS.

The SVS is encouraging comments from members in order to provide the DOC and the writing committee with valuable input to produce the final version of the updated guidelines. The final version is to be reviewed again by the DOC and the SVS Executive Board before being submitted to JVS for publication.
