The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) is on the lookout for candidates for the next Excellence in Community Service Award, with the deadline for submissions falling on May 1.
The accolade is bestowed on an SVS member who has exhibited outstanding leadership within their community as a practicing vascular surgeon. Selection recognizes an individual’s sustained contributions to patients and their community, as well as exemplary professional practice and leadership.
Selection criteria emphasizes surgeons who possess exceptional personal integrity and those who reflect the highest standards of the profession. Nominees must possess a minimum of 20 years as a practicing vascular surgeon and five years as an SVS member.
Evidence of a vascular surgeon’s impact on vascular care or community health includes: leadership in a community-based practice; implementation of services or innovations to advance community health; partnerships or collaborations with organizations in the community; and contributions that elevate the stature of the specialty in the community.
Any SVS member can nominate a candidate for the award by submitting a nomination form and supporting documentation. Self-nominations are also accepted.
Nominations will be reviewed by the SVS Community Practice Committee and presented to the resulting recipient during the SVS Vascular Annual Meeting.
