Vascular pioneer to present International Lecture next week

Juan C. Parodi

Renowned endovascular pioneer Juan C. Parodi, MD, will present the International Lecture at this year’s SVS ONLINE virtual meeting.

He will deliver his address, “Treating intermittent claudication and rest pain: A new approach,” from 6:05 to 6:20 p.m. Central Daylight Time on Tuesday, June 30.

Parodi, of Trinidad Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, made vascular history when, in 1990, he performed the first successful endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) in the Western world. He spoke 25 years later during the SVS Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM).

Then-president Peter Lawrence introduced Parodi, saying, “The history of endovascular repair has, at its root, Dr. Parodi’s inspiration, persistence and innovation, which began when he was a vascular surgery resident at the Cleveland Clinic in the mid-1970s. He returned to Argentina and pursued his new method of treating aneurysms. We are honored to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of his first endovascular repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.”

Be sure to tune in Tuesday, June 30. View the lineup here: The SVS has upcoming sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Tuesday and July 1 and 2. See the full lineup on the SVS Planner.
